A Passionate Woman

It has been announced that Billie has taken on a new project!

Former Doctor Who star Billie Piper is to return to the BBC – to play a young wife and mother who has a romance with a Polish neighbour in 1950s Leeds.
Sue Johnston and Alun Armstrong also appear in A Passionate Woman, based on Kay Mellor’s successful stage play.
“There was interest in the film rights but I held onto them,” Mellor said. “Now, with the BBC and British money, it’s the project I want it to be.”
The drama starts filming in Leeds this month and will air on BBC One in 2010!

Billie supports Meningitis!

Babies run the highest risk of meningitis, says national charity Meningitis Research Foundation.
The risk is 38 times higher for babies under 12 months of age compared to children older than one and adults.

Billie Piper, actress and a new mother of baby Winston, is supporting the campaign:
“Meningitis and septicaemia are every parent’s worst nightmare. MRF’s campaign will raise awareness of these diseases among parents of young babies, which is essential as it can be very difficult to spot meningitis in babies because the symptoms are even less obvious than in older children and adults. Meningitis develops very quickly and can kill in hours, therefore there just is no time for delayed diagnosis.” – Billie Piper

Billie: I'm to daft to be a mum

Doctor Who star Billie Piper reckons she is too daft to be a mum.

The 26-year-old actress - who has a 10-month-old son Winston with husband Laurence Fox thinks she is too young and immature to have a child.
And she worries she'll fill his head with rubbish. She said: "You think having a child will kind of centre you as a person because you're a parent and therefore you're supposed to be a grown-up.
"But, if anything, I think about the fact that I'm not grown up enough. The fear sets in when passing your knowledge on to your child. You realise you don't want to fill his head with a load of rubbish. I need to really think about what I believe in before I tell him anything. There's a lot of soul-searching."
Despite acknowledging motherhood can be difficult, Billie insists she is fortunate her son is so well-behaved.
She said: "Winston is a really chilled, cheeky chappy. He very rarely cries, he's always smiling and he's full of personality already.
"He's the perfect child - in our eyes anyway. The first couple of months are rough but we're finding our way."
