A Secret Movie of a Call Girl?

Billie Piper’s raunchy telly series Secret Diary of a Call Girl is being made into a Hollywood movie – after becoming a smash hit in America.
The 27-year-old beauty, who plays unshockable high-class hooker Belle in the show, is currently working on a fourth and final series for ITV2.
But she now looks set for Stateside stardom with a silver screen debut after it took off on US channel HBO. The movie promises to break even more sexual taboos than the TV series – based on the books and blog of real-life escort Belle de Jour – which features bondage, threesomes and S&M orgies.
Mum-of-one Billie, named Glamour magazine’s Actress of the Year this week, told TV Biz: “I’m about to start filming the fourth series and then that will be it.
“I’m not sure it has legs past four seasons so we’re trying to develop a movie.”
A source added: “The book has been a worldwide success and the TV show has been a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, a movie is the next obvious step.
“Billie’s career would skyrocket if the movie took off. It’s the springboard she needs to take her talent to the States.” Hollywood bosses hope it will ape the success of Sex And The City, which also began life as a book before becoming a hit HBO show then spawning two movies.
Billie said she has even managed to talk her actor husband Laurence Fox round to the idea of a movie after he got used to seeing her strip off and romp with 30 to 40 men per series.
She added: “We didn’t watch for ages, then recently we watched an episode or two.
“It was actually a lot more palatable than I thought, and certainly more than he thought it was going to be – so that was a relief!”

Secret Diary Series Four?

According to The Daily Star, Billie has agreed to come back as Belle in the 4th series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl:
Telly bosses have stumped up £2million to get Billie Piper to make a fourth series of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
The babe has agreed to slip back into saucy outfits and killer heels to play infamous hooker Belle De Jour. Chiefs at ITV were desperate to make another series with producers Tiger Aspect.
Filming for the new eight-part series will kick off later this year, with TV chiefs aiming to screen the first episode on ITV2 on January 27 next year.
The fourth series will see Belle continue to juggle her life as a best-selling author with her secret sex antics in London.
Her adventures have given Billie, 27, one of her biggest TV roles.
The former Doctor Who star says she enjoys playing a “predatory” woman in the show.
She said: “Without getting too serious about it, it’s funny. Inevitably, sex for money is awkward. It’s not some seamless, physical act. The men are really nervous, they end up saying random things. Some are virgins and can’t get laid so they have to pay for it.”
Billie reckons it is one of the best TV roles ever. She added: “It’s so rare that you get to play such a predatory, confident woman.”

Billie wins UK TV Actress of the Year!

Billie and Laurence attended this years Glamour Women Of The Year Awards, she looked beautiful in a floor length black dress and up hair-do, and to top it off, she won UK TV Actress of the Year, which we all know she totally deserved!
Glad to see Glamour readers love her as much as we do!

A Passionate Woman Fails to Spark

With a title like A Passionate Woman (BBC1) and with Billie Piper, fresh from Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, in the title role, it seemed fair to expect the screen to steam up with some good old-fashioned post-war rumpy pumpy. But something about this doomed period romance failed to spark. It wasn’t Piper’s fault. She was the picture of let-me-at-’im libido the minute her dowdy Betty clapped eyes on hunky charmer Craze at the local dancehall.
We were in grim-up-North 1950s Leeds, a land of freezing flats, frustrated marriages and small-minded anti-Semitism.
So it was no wonder the rather too perfectly formed Craze (Theo James, with gym-buff body and perfect teeth – not really a 1950s look) caused something of a stir.
To the endlessly repeated refrain of old Johnny Mathis ditty A Certain Smile, Betty and Craze embarked on an affair we knew was ill-fated from the outset, given that he copped a bullet in the opening credits and the whole thing was told in flashback.
Blocking their route to happiness was the fact they were both trapped in entirely implausible marriages to people they didn’t like, let alone love.

Don't forget you can catch Billie in A Passionate Woman on BBC1 tonight at 9.00pm! Don't miss it!

Embarrassing Pop Career

Billie Piper has confessed that she is embarrassed about her music career.
Piper landed her first number one with ‘Because We Want To’ when she was 15 but revealed that she now refuses to let people listen to her records.
“I don’t play my songs to anyone,” the Daily Star quotes her as saying. “It’s one of those things I lock in a box.”
Piper also ruled out working on more music in the future.
“There’s not enough money in the world to get me singing again,” she admitted. “I would be happy to turn down a million.”

Press Pack Interview

From hooker to housewife, Billie Piper’s latest role finds her as a 1950s newlywed trapped in a loveless relationship in A Passionate Woman, screening on BBC One on Sunday, April 11 at 9pm…

Tell us about A Passionate Woman, your new TV role…

“I play Betty, a young woman. She’s a very poor woman and she’s first-time married, and a mother. She is very much a woman of the time – very ordered, proper, buttoned up. She’s close with her husband but it’s a very old-fashioned relationship – he’s at work all day, he doesn’t talk to her, doesn’t ask her how she’s doing. She is completely bowled over by this polish neighbour, Craze, who moves in. They fall in love and begin this obsessive, passionate affair.”

A true story?

“It’s written by Kay Mellor [Fat Friends] and loosely based on an affair her own mother had in the 1950s, which she never confessed to until the 1980s. The second episode of the story jumps forward to the 80s, where Betty is played by Sue Johnston.”

Did you meet Sue to talk about your character?

“Briefly, we lived next to each other while our parts of the shoot overlapped. She’s lovely, smart and a really savvy actress. I was thrilled to be playing the younger version of her.”

Betty is a far cry from your other role – Belle in Secret Diary of a Call Girl…

“Yes! That’s why I wanted to do it. I get offered a lot of naked roles – feisty nurses, women dressed only in their bras! That’s it for me for now! That’s my life! But I want to different parts, and this is radically different.”

Did you relate to Betty as a young mother yourself?

“Yes. I’ve just had my first son Winston and I’m newly married [to Lewis actor, Laurence Fox], so I could completely relate to Betty. But nowadays we have opportunities to go out and work and socialise and we’re constantly banging on about how we feel. Back then it was a taboo.”

What’s coming up for you? There are lots of rumours that you’re off to America?

“I’m going out there to sniff around and see what there is. I get sent a lot of scripts from America, but I get so spoiled here with meaty, rounded parts, I don’t get that with American scripts. We’re working on what we’re going to do now but I’d quite like to stay at home and be with my son for a bit!”

Billie's Baby Blues

Doting mum Billie Piper has admitted struggling with postnatal depression following her son’s birth.
The pretty actress hit rock- bottom when she returned to work as a screen prostitute on hit TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. It was five months after her difficult 26-hour labour and emergency Caesaraen to have baby Winston. But the determined star, 27, refused to take any medication for her baby blues.
Describing her ordeal she said: “The doctor said I had post-natal depression.
“Secret Diary was a stressful time. I had started leaving Winston. I was finishing breast-feeding, which is really emotional.
Billie, who had Winston in October 2008, has battled mental illness before. She previously admitted suffering anorexia when she hit the pop charts aged 15, and when her marriage to Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans fell apart.
Now wed to Lewis actor Laurence Fox, 31, she insists she is happier than ever.

American Move?

Billie Piper has revealed that she would think about moving to America in the future.
The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl star explained that she would have to be offered good roles before she would consider moving across the Atlantic. According to The Mirror, she said: “At the moment it’s unlikely, because my son Winston is so young and I’m getting work in Britain of a high quality.
“But if the parts I were being offered in America were really good then yes, I would definitely consider moving.”
Piper continued: “At the moment what I’m being offered is four scenes as someone’s girlfriend in a sitcom, if I’m lucky. But if that changes, if the roles in the US become good and substantial, I would consider moving.”

Billie's Being A Bed Girl

There are some more Piper-ing hot scenes when Billie gets her kit off for BBC1's A Passionate Woman. This time the Secret Diary of a Call Girl star plays a sexually frustrated houswife who relieves her tension by having an affair with a Polish neighbour.
And Piper, 27, certainly lives up to the title of BBC1's two-part show. An insider said: "Some of the scenes have Billie calling out in ecstasy."
The drama, set in 1950's Leeds and penned by Fat Friends writer Kay Mellor, has Theo James as Billie's lover Alex Crazenovski.

The source said: "They get it on anywhere they can, including a park, her husbands bed and a rowing boat."
You can see her in Pole positions next week or catch a sneak preview of the video here

She said: “It’s nice coming from a big family but I’m not sure if I could go for the four, certainly not the five.”

Secret Diary: Episode Seven

Don’t forget to watch Secret Diary of a Call Girl Episode 7 tonight at 10 PM on ITV2!
Here’s a brief description of tonight’s episode:

Belle has spent so long writing about clients, but doesn’t know what it’s like to be a client so she decides to book a male escort for herself. While with the escort, Belle feels so guilty about Duncan that she finds herself admitting she’s not only a prostitute, but an author, too. Meanwhile, Bambi goes to see her next client who turns out to be Duncan, unbeknownst to her. Belle, completely unaware of Duncan’s earlier activities, feels guilty for having submitted a chapter about the male escort and asks Duncan to come over. Duncan and Belle make love, but it becomes clear that Duncan wants to be having sex with Belle the escort, not Hannah. Later, Bambi comes over, excited to meet Belle’s boyfriend and invite him to her wedding, until she comes face to face with Duncan – the client she slept with only hours earlier.

'Who' Sale

From Digital Spy:
Billie Piper’s Doctor Who pyjamas have sold for £1,000 a pair at a recent auction.
Jason Joiner, who purchased a pair of Rose’s pyjamas, commented: “I bought her pyjamas because I wanted clothing from each main character. I won’t be wearing them!”
Additionally, two Daleks which featured in the 1980s series went for £23,970 and £18,330.

Billie Hints at Who Movie?

Billie appeared on Radio 1 last week where she spoke to Sara Cox not only about the new series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, but her time as Rose Tyler too! During the interview she added yet more fuel to the fire regarding a possible Doctor Who film!
When asked if there was any truth behind the speculation, the actress, rather suprisingly, said: “Well, I’ve heard that they’re doing it and that they want David to do it, but I think he’s slightly anxious that there’ll be big American producers on board and that they’ll try and hijack the whole thing and cast someone like Johnny Depp.”
However, she cooly denied that she would be appearing in it herself, labelling her sudden outbreak of laughter as ‘a nervous twitch’, before insisting: “I don’t know!”
A movie has been on the cards for years now, however the rumours were rekindled last May when ‘DOCTOR WHO - THE MOVIE’ briefly appeared on the agency profile for Russell T Davies, and then, a week later, BBC Films announced that the script for a feature-length adventure was ’in development’. Does Billie know more than she’s letting on?

Billie talks marriage, motherhood and meeting Belle

As opening shots to interviews go, you don’t happen upon much jollier than Billie Piper’s. “Shall we get champagne?” she suggests. Why ever not! Within 15 minutes she’s downed a flute, accidentally knocked it over with the sleeve of her voluminous Topshop sweater dress, emptied a half-pint of fizzy water and filled it up with 50-quid-a-pop sparkle.
She looks stunning. At 26 and the mother of one-year-old Winston, she has grown into her big, gobstopper facial features and has shed all of her baby-weight. “It was literally just about going mental for six weeks,” she says, of her post-Winston eating regime. “I think I was quite lucky. I wasn’t massively healthy. I just ate loads of protein. It’s either that or speed pills, and the thing is you do actually have to sleep at some point. You’ve got to try and maintain a healthy marriage and I’m not sure that amphetamines are that conducive to a successful relationship.”

Billie Worried about Call Girl Taunts

The 27-year-old played high-class hooker Belle de Jour in Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
Piper, who has a 15-month-old boy called Winston with her husband Laurence Fox, said motherhood had changed her attitude towards her work.
The former Doctor Who star said she was not sure that acting leads to a “wholesome family life”.
Piper started filming the ITV2 show in 2007 and a third series is about to air.
The actress told Radio Times: “I feel like there were the carefree, reckless years when all I had was a boyfriend and I wasn’t the face of a family.
“Now I’m a mum, and this time round there were definitely more moments when I questioned what I was doing, whereas before I didn’t really give a ****, it was just a role.”
“But now I had to go home and feed my son, and it’s a radical shift in your brain from being this provocative, man-eating person by day to this new mum at night.
“I’m all too aware that, one day, he’s probably going to be teased about it, tormented even. So there were these moments of: ‘Oh my God, what am I doing?”‘
Piper said she might one day prefer a future outside acting.
“I think that if I was to have more children and holding a family together, I would need to think about branching out into other areas, maybe producing or writing,” she said.
She also revealed her husband was “surprisingly relaxed” about her filming steamy scenes.
“It’s very different from who I am normally, that’s the thing. I don’t wear minuscule outfits. I’m a real cover-up tomboy,” she said.
“He knows that and he’s grown-up enough not to marry those two worlds and get confused by them.
“And it would be such crap to play a prostitute without getting your kit off, wouldn’t it?”

The Return of Belle

The Secret Diary of a Call Girl star talks sex scenes, motherhood and the new Doctor Who.

What’s in store in the new series of Secret Diary..?
“It’s quite radical. Belle’s now an author, and her editor Duncan, played by James D’Arcy, wants her to find more outrageous clients to fuel her writing. I couldn’t do sex scenes for the second series because I was pregnant, so I suppose I’m paying for it this time around.”
Is there any romance on the horizon?
“Her relationship with Duncan is weird and complex. He doesn’t judge her, he encourages her, and she finds that confusing. Apart from her friend Ben, he’s the only guy Belle can confide in.”
How did you feel about the real Belle, Brooke Magnanti, losing her anonymity last year?
“It must have been liberating to unburden herself of that secret, but also frightening because now people will recognise her as this woman who had sex with loads of men. It’s nice for me to share the load with someone though, because I feel I have become the face for prostitution.”

'My New Sex Scenes are so Naughty. I love it!'

The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl star, 27, on the new series of the show, how she’s loving being a mum, and losing that baby weight (amazingly quickly)…
Billie Piper has come a long way since those all-day benders with ex-hubby Chris Evans. Arriving for our interview today at London’s trendy Covent Garden Hotel, she is in high spirits and boasting that trademark wide-mouthed smile. She insists on playing hostess and pours drinks as we settle down on the sofa for a candid chat.
The mum – to 15-month-old Winston – looks incredible, dressed in a black figure-hugging jumper dress, leggings and high-heeled boots which show off the tiny pre-baby frame she regained in just six weeks.
There’s no denying Billie seems to have found what she was looking for on her rocky journey from wild child to wife and mother. She freely admits to a life lived in the fast lane. From finding fame as a teenage pop star, marrying Chris Evans (she was 19, he was 35), divorcing him, moving from pop music to acting after landing a role in Doctor Who, dating a man who loved ‘tantric sex’ then finding love with a fellow actor, Billie’s choice of career and men has sometimes courted controversy. Billie: I'm A Selfish Person

Billie Piper suddenly walks into the office. The room is instantly the last word in glamour. The actress is dressed in full-on Belle de Jour mode for the latest series of her ITV2 drama series, Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Done up in her costume – a dazzling blue satin dress, vertiginous heels, high-class jewellery and war-paint make-up – she looks like she has already won Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
And yet, despite being dressed to kill, the actress is very far from intimidating. Piper radiates warmth and wit – that, surely, is why at the age of just 27 she is one of our most in-demand actresses. Both men and women are drawn to that rare combination of attractiveness and accessibility. She is grounded girl next door and gorgeous sex symbol rolled into one.

Billie and Belle

As Billie Piper prepared for the launch of the third series of ITV’s Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, she was presented with an offer she couldn’t refuse… a chance to meet the real-life Belle Du Jour.
Dr Brooke Magnati, 34, is the high-class escort whose blog became the bestselling book on which the show is based.
As a forerunner to the series, the girls were brought together for a TV show entitled Billie And The Real Belle Bare All, with Billie, 27, cast in the role of interviewer.
Face to face: Belle de Jour Brooke Magnati and Billie Piper have a chat in ITV2 documentary Billie And The Real Belle Bare All!
Billie Piper: When did you decide to write a blog?
Belle de Jour: I had a funny experience and I thought, well, I’ll write about it and if anyone else wants to read it they might find it funny too. There are some people who do this job who are racked with guilt about what they’re doing. I’d say get out of it. No amount of money in the world is worth feeling that you’ve betrayed yourself. I didn’t feel that way.
The more I did it, the more I came to enjoy being good at it. It’s like that in a lot of jobs. You must feel, when you’ve absolutely nailed a scene, “That was great! I’ve done it.”

Billie Reveals All About Nude Scenes

Actress Billie Piper has admitted she can’t bear to watch her raunchy scenes in The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl with her actor husband Laurence Fox.
Speaking to Closer Magazine, the former teen pop star said: “I don’t stop him, but we don’t watch it together – that would just be weird,”
“I wouldn’t watch it with my dad or brother, either. I have selective memory loss when it’s on!”
Billie, who plays upmarket prostitute Belle in the ITV2 show, also says she sometimes cringes at her character’s saucy antics in the latest series.
“My most embarrassing scene? Being done from behind while I was pretending to be all sorts of farmyard animals,”
“I was a chicken… and I had to bleat like a ewe. It makes me sweat just thinking about it!”
The 27-year-old added: “It was weird going home and having to sing Old MacDonald and read books about farmyard animals to my son!”
The new series of the show that’s based on the blog of real-life call girl “Belle de Jour”, also sees Billie’s character have sex with baked beans, bizarre fetish fantasies and kinky role play.
“I’m paying for the fact that I was pregnant during the last series and couldn’t film much sex,” she said.
“There’s loads in this one! Belle’s a published author now, and as she’s writing her second book she needs new material, so her adventures get more obscure.
“There’s a weird and wonderful world out there, and I’ve learnt a lot. I feel quite jaded!”
Billie says stripping for the camera doesn’t get any easier. “I still get nervous, but everyone on set handles it really well,” she says. “We all get smutty, giggle and crack inappropriate jokes, which stops it feeling too intense.”
Having given birth to her first child, Winston just five months before filming, Billie admits she was under pressure to lose weight. She says: “I was contractually obliged to get back in shape and knew I couldn’t play the part while lactating! “But I didn’t want to sacrifice my son’s health and go: ‘I know you’re only two months old, but I’m stopping feeding you and going on a seven-mile run now.’ So I breast-fed as long as I could, then decided to lose the weight quickly by going running and eating less.”
She also revealed that the third series may mark the end of Belle’s TV adventures. “I feel I’ve already worked during too much of my son’s babyhood – I think it might be time to relax with him this year,” she says. “I don’t want to be an absent figure in his life.”

Billie De Jour

Billie Piper has played prostitute Belle De Jour in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and the lead in Kay Mellor's A Passionate Woman, so she is no stranger to steamy parts. The modern-day Moll Flanders reveals all in this candid interview:

The first time I met Billie Piper, I was left feeling that I owed her an apology. She was heavily pregnant at the time, by husband, actor Laurence Fox, we got chatting about her birth options and I was perhaps a little too candid about what scenarios she might encounter, resulting in my glancing up at one point to be met with her huge caramel eyes, wide with trepidation.
Very bad form on my part: it really isn't on to scare first-time mums-to-be. What made it worse was that Piper had been great company – bright, open, witty, with a well-developed sense of the absurd – whether talking about her recent marriage to Fox, her first one to Chris Evans, her teenage pop career, playing Rose in Doctor Who, or the furore over her role as Belle de Jour in Secret Diary of a Call Girl. In the end, the guilt got too much and I sent an apology via her publicist. In October 2008, Piper had her baby, Winston James, after a 26-hour labour, followed by an emergency Caesarean. It all sounds pretty gruelling. "When the contractions first started I laughed, because I couldn't believe how painful it was," says Piper when we meet again, at the Observer photo shoot. "But we stopped off at Starbucks on the way to the hospital for a triple shot and a muffin before it all kicked off."
She is full-on glamorous, in a slinky dress, when I first see her having her photograph taken, and afterwards Piper, 27, changes into jeans and a zipped top. Petite, hair swept back from tawny skin, she looks both chic and staggeringly young and vulnerable.
