Matt Smith Rings Billie For Advice

Matt Smith has turned to his previous co-star Billie Piper for advice on how to play the Doctor, The Daily Star Sunday reports.
Smith, who will become the Eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord when David Tennant leaves the show later this year, is said to be ‘panicked’ at the thought of taking on such an iconic role.
Piper, who played the Doctor’s companion, Rose Tyler, in Series 1, 2 and 4, has told the newspaper that she’s more than happy to help out her old friend.
“He called me and said ‘What am I going to do?’” she said.
But the actress has told him that he doesn’t need any acting advice, so instead she’s sharing some tips on how to manage the publicity demands that come with the show.
“Your life completely changes as it’s such a huge show, just about the biggest show on TV,” she continued. “I had no idea what I was getting into. It’s frightening being in that kind of production and having people suddenly know everything about you. He’s just about to embark on that.”
She added: “But I’m a big fan of Matt. He’s a stirring actor and has the right energy for the part of the Doctor. The role is in good hands.”
Filming for the fifth series of Doctor Who will begin in Cardiff this July

Billie: I Need Time With My Baby

In other news new mum Billie Piper said she is cutting back on acting to care for her baby.
The 26-year-old actress gave birth to son Winston three months ago but weeks of sleepless nights have taken their toll.
Billie begins filming the third series of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl next month. But after that, she is in no rush to leave Winton’s side.
She said: “I’m going to wait for the right thing to come along and until that happens, spend time with my son. I don’t want to rush into anything that isn’t right or doesn’t inspire me.
“I have a new baby, so it’s all quite full-on at the moment. You spend a lot of time awake! But I think the worst of the bad sleeping is drawing to an end.”
Billie revealed she is an executive producer on the new series of ITV2’s Secret Diary, where she plays high-class prostitute Belle.
One day she hopes to set up a production company with her hubby, actor Laurence Fox. Billie said: “I’m really excited. I’ll be doing pre-production and working on scripts. I would love to produce.
“So it’s ideal having this exec role on the season. It’s a way for me to learn the ropes and be more involved. And in the future, maybe start something up with my husband.”

And I would just like to say congratulations to Billie’s ex husband Chris Evans & his wife Natasha Shishmanian for having a baby boy today, lets hope little Winston and Noah will be buddies!

Billie Piper Works Hard for the Money

Billie Piper is back with a second season of the British series Secret Diary of a Call Girl (Sundays, 10:30 pm/ET, Showtime), in which Hannah — aka Belle, her working-girl alter ego — navigates a “real” relationship and encounters new women in her field. Piper, a former pop star, veteran of Jane Austen movies (Mansfield Park) and new mom, still treats her controversial role with wide-eyed curiosity. TVGuide.com spoke to her about her research into the world of prostitution, the overseas controversy surrounding the sexy show and which scene it was that made her feel “strange” to film.

What attracted you to this role?
"That it was so different from everything I’d ever done. And I think you have to keep trying new worlds, new experiences, and new characters. I’d done my fair share of sci-fi and period-drama girls. I was quite keen to play someone who was very different. And I loved the book; it made me laugh a lot. And I liked the idea of working with strictly female producers and writers; that was a big draw for me."

How did the reactions to Secret Diary differ in the U.K. and the States?
"In the U.K., the public liked it, but the critics did not. I think they were so used to seeing me play wholesome teenage girls or girls from Jane Austen novels, and suddenly I was taking all of my clothes off and simulating sex. In America, people were slightly more accepting, which surprised me. I suppose the Showtime audience is more open-minded."

Hannah/Belle wants it all: the sex and the money, but also the loving partner at home. Will she ever be able to have it all?
"I don’t think so. It’s just impossible to have both, unless you found the most understanding man in the world. Life isn’t really like that. It will be interesting to see whether she chooses her career over love.

What surprised you the most in your research?
“The “girlfriend experience”: A man pays an escort to hold his hand and eat pizza with him; it’s not necessarily just about sex. It’s often men who just want someone to be with them, but not give them any grief."
